Punjab Govt prohibits gutka, pan masala



INDIA, CHANDIGARH: Punjab Thursday requested a complete ban on the purchase, storage space, produce and submission of tobacco-based items, gutka (tobacco-laced areca nut pieces) and pan masala in the condition, an formal said.

Chief Reverend Parkash Singh Badal had accepted the offer of the condition wellness and family well being division for prohibiting such items across the condition, he said.

"This has been done in the bigger interest of public wellness. The eating of gutka, pan masala and other cigarettes was a effective wellness risks and accountable for dangerous condition of melanoma especially of neck and lips," he included.
He said that other foodstuffs containing smoking cigarettes or smoking as substances, by at all name, had also been prohibited.

These items were previously prohibited only in the zones of Amritsar, Ropar, Mohali and Mansa as these have popular spiritual shrines.
