INDIA, MUMBAI: Yamaha Engine on Friday said it has presented its first motorcycle design in Native indian, with a focus on to capture a fifth of this growing industry for child motor scooters by 2016.
India Yamaha Engine, a unit of Japanese two-wheeler major Yamaha, presented the "Ray" motorcycle, which will compete with models from rivals like Ford, Suzuki, Mahindra group and TVS Engine.
Yahama has until now made motorbikes in Native indian.
The 113-cc Ray motorcycle -- charged as a design for females -- costs 46,000 rupees ($850) at dealerships in New Delhi.
The company said it plans to begin to build its third manufacturer in Native indian in the southern city of Chennai in 2014.
Yamaha, which forayed into Native indian in 1985, has two manufacturing plants, one on Surajpur in the north condition of Uttar Pradesh and another in Faridabad in the north Native indian condition of Haryana.
Yamaha currently produces 0.4 thousand models in Native indian, with a focus on of one thousand by 2014.
"This would reach 2.8 thousand models by 2018," Native indian Yamaha Motor's us president Hiroyuki Suzuki said in a statement.
Motorcycles comprise the majority three-fourths of India's two-wheeler industry, but child motor scooters have grown more quickly nowadays, driven mainly by scholars and youthful working females.
Motorcycle revenue in Native indian grew 3.3 % to 4.22 thousand models between Apr to Aug this year, according to data from the Society of Native indian Automobile Manufacturers.
Scooter revenue rose 23 % to 1.17 thousand in the same period.
