INDIA, TAMIL NADU, RAMESWARAM: 20 eight Tamil Nadu fishers were caught by Sri Lankan Naval employees on the cost of coming into the isle ocean in the Palk Strait but launched after a strict caution on Weekend, authorities in Rameswaram said.
The fishers from Akkaraipettai town near Nagapattinam were sportfishing in four technical vessels when they were caught and taken to Mannar in Sri Lanka, Associate Home of Fisheries Gunasekaran said estimating details obtained.
Though the fishers said they were sportfishing in Native indian ocean only, the Sri Lankan naval men informed them that they had intruded into their area.
The Naval employees defeat some of the fishers and cautioned them not to get into Sri Lankan ocean before launching them this mid-day, he said including the fishers were predicted to come back today.
Several occurrences of Tamil Nadu fishers being 'attacked' and caught by Sri Lankan naval employees have been revealed recently and the local govt had been challenging that the Center take up the problem highly with the nearby nation.
