US grants 'Truvada', the first tablet to help avoid HIV


USA: The Food and Medication Management has accepted the first drug proven to avoid HIV disease, a landmark in the 30-year fight against the malware that causes AIDS.

The organization accepted Gilead Sciences' tablet Truvada as a protection for individuals who are at high-risk of obtaining HIV, such as those who have sex with HIV-infected associates.

Gilead Sciences Inc. has promoted Truvada since 2004 as a treatment for individuals who are contaminated with the malware.
But company research the drug can avoid individuals from having HIV when used as a prevention evaluate. A three-year research discovered that everyday amounts cut the chance of disease in healthier gay and bisexual men by 42 %, when associated with contraceptives and guidance.
