"I am not worried about my status in the group. My job is to execute to my prospective as an established and do well for my country and my group," Gambhir informed correspondents in Chennai, after the first day of the training-camp before Sri Lankan trip.
Rising celebrity of the Native indian group, Virat Kohli, had changed Gambir as the vice-captain of the part for Japan Cup in Bangaldesh last April and remains deputy to Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Gambhir, like his statemate, Virender Sehwag, said that a crew's achievements was not limited to just authority of a leader.
The left-handed operator emphasised that the achievements of the group goes beyond even the efficiency of the gamers.
"I have always managed that a leader is as excellent as his group. The money score of achievements goes to everyone in the group and not the leader alone. Not only the 23 gamers but all the assistance and the control employees of the group," he said.
Gambhir said that the group needs to do well against Sri Lanka to set the overall tone for the period, in which they are scheduled to execute powerful Britain and Modern australia.
"It is a clean sequence of a clean period and it is essential that we need to be completely expert in our way to obtain the strength and take it forward in our next sequence against Britain and Modern australia.
"We have skilled gamers in our wearing area and we need to execute to our prospective to obtain great outcomes. Sri Lanka is a very powerful part in their own lawn," he said.
The Delhi gamer said he is directing to do well in the ODI sequence against the Lankans as it will get ready him for more difficulties forward.
"Series against Sri Lanka is very essential for us. As I said they are a very powerful part, especially after having performed a challenging sequence against Pakistan.

Asked about the resumption of cricket connections with Pakistan, Gambhir said enjoying Pakistan was no different from enjoying any other country.
