INDIA, DELHI: The long-delayed Nag anti-tank rocket venture of the DRDO has experienced yet another drawback as its individual tests organised lately unsuccessful.
In the tests organised in Rajasthan in existence of mature Lt Gen-rank authorities from the Military and top DRDO authorities, the customized service provider of the rocket known as NAMICA also under-performed, DRDO resources informed PTI here.
In the tests organised at the Mahajan shooting variety, four Nag missiles were shot of which only one could hit the focus on whereas the staying did not do so due to bugs in the devices on-board the tool, they said.
Army authorities existing at the test-firings were not satisfied with the performance of the rocket and have requested the protection analysis organization to come better ready for the tests to be organised later on, they said.
The rocket has been under growth as aspect of the Incorporated Advised Missile Development Program (IGMDP) began in beginning Nineteen-eighties and is now predicted to take few more decades to arrive at the introduction level.
Sources said the service provider of the Nag rocket known as NAMICA — a customized Russian-origin BMP-II employees service provider, also did not fulfill the customers in showing its abilities in water during the tests.
However, the NAMICA met the specifications of the individual with regards to its cross-country abilities, they said.
When approached for his response, DRDO representative Ravi Gupta said the tests were a “partial success”.
“The Innovative Target Purchase techniques with both the Gunner and Leader have conducted well,” he stated.
The representative said these tests have “brought out certain diversions in the exhaust of the NAMICA BMP-II and those were being evaluated by the professionals.”
So far, DRDO has performed more than 50 test-launches of the rocket since it began its growth in the 80s.
The DRDO is also operating on creating the helicopter-launched Nag rocket known as the HELINA and its tests are also predicted to be organised soon.
The Native indian Military has been looking forward to the introduction of the Nag rocket for decades now. In insufficient any natural system, it uses the French-origin Milan anti-tank missiles and is also in discussions with the US for obtaining a considerable variety of Javelin anti-tank guided missiles.
