INDIA: The variety of new yearly HIV attacks has dropped by around 56 % during the last several years in the country, the Lok Sabha was informed Saturday.
Minister of State for Health S Gandhiselvan said that based on HIV quotes 2010, it is approximated that Indian had approximately 1.2 lakh new attacks last year, as against 2.7 lakh in 2000.
"Similar reduction in HIV occurrence has been mentioned in all the great occurrence declares in the southeast and east region. However, some low occurrence declares have shown a minor increase in the variety of new attacks over the past two decades," he said.
Of the 1.2 lakh approximated new attacks last year, the six great occurrence declares consideration for only 39 % of the situations, while the declares of Odisha, Bihar, Western Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat consideration for 41 % of new attacks.
"In regard to variety of revealed HIV/AIDS situations authorized in ART (anti-retroviral therapy) companies for HIV health care, during the year 2010-11, 320,114 HIV/AIDS situations were authorized against 246,627 in 2009-10. However, during 2011-12, the same variety has been reduced to 275,377 situations," Gandhiselvan said.
The reverend said that there was significant decrease in HIV occurrence among female sex workers and women (15-24 years) seeking ante-natal health care in the high-prevalence southeast declares.
